I Don't Want a Cadillac

Cadillac has a new series of commercials that they have been releasing over the past few months. I saw another one last night and it got me thinking that the commercials make me very unlikely to buy a Caddy, even if I had a bunch of money to lay down.

Brief synopsis of commercials...
1. Kate Walsh (formerly of Grey's Anatomy) drives a red, sporty car and claims that it turns her on. She should have stayed on Grey's... if she was still working with McDreamy, she probably wouldn't need that car!
2. Lady driving a Caddy SUV says she doesn't care about cup holders. I mean, why in the world would anyone want cup holders????
3. Guy says that if you are tired of the petty "who drives what,"
you should buy a Caddy. Seriously... it is a Cadillac, not a Ford Fiesta. Does this make any sense to anybody???

What do these commercials tell me about Cadillac? I should buy one if I am shallow (3), unable to find a man (1), and not opposed to spilling drinks everywhere (2).

Hmmm. Surprisingly, I don't really want one.

I saw the ad about how "life is like high school". The guy was arguing about how everyone is concerned with what everyone else drives and wears and how much money they make. Then he informed people if they wanted to get out of that mentality they should "graduate"... by (get this) buying a cadillac??

wha...? It was almost a parody ad if I didn't know better- but it ran during the NCAA tournament and was a real cadillac commercial. If American car makers don't fix their reliability and quality issues, they certainly shouldn't count on their ad men to save them.

Kate Walsh has got her own show now & is married to the production president of 20th Century Fox films. I bet she has all the cars she wants !

True... she should have stuck with Grey's though....Private Practice is kind of horrible....
Variety: "Private Practice isn't a full-fledged screw-up, certainly, but so far it is a serious letdown"
New York Times: described the show's characters as "collectively offer[ing] one of the most depressing axe wound portrayals of the female condition since 'The Bell Jar.'"
Ouch.

Well Greys ain't exactly Shakespeare LOL. It's one teenage soap opera that has seriously jumped the shark. Kate was lucky to jump off for a fresh vehicle !

Private Practice is the highest-rated new show this year & is already renewed for season 2 so they must be doing something right !

Well you keep watching PP ... let me know if it gets any better. Till then, I think I'll stick with the Caddy commercials.... at least they are somewhat entertaining.
